What to expect

You’ve been referred for a medico-legal examination because your lawyer or insurer wants our doctors to assess your injuries and their impact.

The appointment involves a detailed discussion of your injuries and a physical examination.

The doctor will have reviewed available documents provided by your solicitor or insurer (medical records, accident reports).

Be prepared to discuss

How your injury occurred.

Any treatment you’ve received.

Your current medications.

Your medical and accident history.

How your injuries affect your daily life (at home and work). Reflect on this beforehand and consider specific examples.

Important notes

The doctor cannot provide treatment during the appointment.

If recommended treatment arises, it will be documented in the report.

Bring X-rays and wear comfortable clothing (including underwear) for the examination.

Please aim to be 15 minutes early to ensure you can find the location of your appointment and fill in any relevant paperwork. Some consultations are in hospitals which can be challenging to locate.
