Vocational Assessments
Vocational Assessments
Claire Hurley is a Rehabilitation Counsellor with a Bachelor of Health Science (Rehabilitation Counselling) and full membership with the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC), accreditation in Mental Health First Aid, and 18 years’ experience in workplace rehabilitation. Claire is highly experienced in conducting Vocational Assessment services including Employability Assessments, Transferable Skills Assessments, Earning Capacity Assessments, and Labour Market Analysis.
Claire’s experience spans across multiple schemes including medico-legal services, workers compensation in QLD, NSW, and WA, life insurance, Lifetime Care, and NDIS. Claire is an active collaborator in case management and medico-legal matters to reveal suitable employment pathways, barriers, and interventions that may be required for return to work success. Claire provides Vocational Assessment services with a person-centred approach, considering the circumstances of the individual, available medical information pertaining to the client, and their access to jobs that exist in the labour market. Reports can be expected to include reasonable recommendations regarding vocational options, retraining needs, and the likelihood of achieving employment either with, or without, vocational support services.
Assessments are conducted using a functional, interview-style methodology based on anecdotal reporting and evidence of workplace or vocational competencies, rather than routine vocational or psychometric testing. Testing for literacy and numeracy, typing or software competency, or practical job seeking abilities can be performed during in-person assessments where indicated. In addition to conducting evidence-based, fair, and respectful assessments and reports, Claire is immersed in the provision of other services including vocational counselling, rehabilitation counselling, case management, job seeking education, preparation, and support, host placement sourcing, workplace assessments, and case management to support people living with injury, illness, and disability. Claire maintains a solutions focus to identify the most practical way for a client to achieve return to work goals in consideration of vocational, health, and psychosocial barriers.
Claire is experienced in supporting industry peers through mentorship and quality assurance review to understand the purpose of vocational services, conduct these effectively, and enhance quality outcomes.
